Cooktop Repair — Book a Visit Today

A cooktop quits at the worst moment, usually with a pan already hot. Gas burners that click and click without lighting, electric coils that stay stone cold, glass-top elements stuck on high, a control board scrambled after a summer storm knocked the power out and back on. We repair all major brands as an independent shop. A visit starts with the burner or zone you're worried about, then moves to igniters, switches, valves, wiring, and the control board behind them. We test, we explain what we found in plain words, and we tell you what the fix involves before anything is ordered. Nashville and the wider Mid-South are our stomping grounds. Call us and describe what the cooktop is doing.

Cooktop Repair — residential cooktop being serviced

The cooktop symptoms we hear most

  • It clicks and clicks but won't light Spark igniter, wet or clogged burner port, or a failing spark module
  • One burner is dead, the rest work fine Infinite switch, surface element, or a burned terminal block connection
  • Glass top gets red hot and won't turn down Shorted control switch or a relay stuck closed on the board
  • Flames are tall, yellow, and sooty Air-to-gas mixture, wrong orifice, or debris in the burner cap
  • Touch controls quit after the power blinked Surge-damaged control board or user interface panel

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Shut off the gas at the valve, open a window, leave the house, and call from outside if you smell gas.
  • 2Pop off the burner caps and grates once cool, then clear food crumbs out of the little slots with a stiff brush.
  • 3Reset the breaker for the cooktop circuit one time, since storm surges can leave a board sulking.
  • 4Check that knobs are seated all the way onto their stems and that nothing spilled has dried under them.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form. Describe what you hear, smell, or see. Buzzing, leaking, no heat. Plain talk is fine. We ask a few questions and set a visit window.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

A technician arrives in the window, pulls the unit out, and tests it. No guessing games. We explain what failed and why, in words that make sense on your back porch.

  3. Step 3

    We fix it

Common parts ride with us, so many repairs finish the same visit. If a part must be ordered, we tell you plainly and schedule the return before we leave your driveway.

Cooktop Repair — quick answers

Why do my gas burners click even when everything is off?

Moisture or spilled liquid on the igniter can keep the spark module firing. Sometimes it dries out and stops. If clicking continues after the burner area is dry, the switch or module usually needs replacing.

Can a glass cooktop with a crack still be used?

We say no. Cracks let spills reach the wiring underneath, and heat spreads unevenly along the break. Turn that zone off, stop using it, and have the glass assessed before cooking on it again.

Does one bad burner mean the whole cooktop is done?

Rarely. Most single-burner failures trace to one switch, one element, or one igniter. We test that circuit specifically instead of assuming the entire appliance has given up.

Why did my cooktop stop working after a thunderstorm?

Surges hit electronic controls hard. Boards, interface panels, and relays are the usual casualties around here. A breaker reset sometimes clears it. When it doesn't, the damaged part needs identifying and swapping.

How long does a typical cooktop repair take?

Many jobs finish in a single visit once we see what failed. If a control board or glass surface has to be ordered, we schedule a return trip and tell you the timing up front.

Do you work on downdraft and induction models too?

Yes. Downdraft units add a blower and damper to check. Induction cooktops rely on power boards and coil sensors. Both get diagnosed the same careful way, and we service all major brands independently.

Why homeowners call us

  • Storm-season surge damageLightning and blinking power hurt control boards. An oven that lights up but won't heat, a washer that dies mid-cycle. We test boards and wiring before replacing anything, so you know what the surge actually took out.
  • Clay dust and lintRed clay dust and lint choke dryer vents and condenser coils. Long dry times, hot laundry rooms, fridges running nonstop. We check airflow every visit, because a clogged vent kills a good machine slowly.
  • Straight talk, no runaroundWe say what's wrong and what it takes to fix. If a machine is worn past sense, we say that too. You decide. No pressure, no jargon, no upsell dressed up as advice.
  • Independent and localWe're a Nashville crew, not a call center. We repair all major brands as an independent shop. You reach real people, and the person who answers knows the roads we drive.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more — as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so — often on the phone.
