Microwave Repair — Book a Visit Today

A microwave quits in ways that make no sense at first. The light comes on, the fan hums, the plate turns, and your coffee stays cold. That usually points to a magnetron, a high-voltage diode, or a capacitor that gave up. Other times it's a door switch, a blown thermal fuse after a storm surge, or a control board with scorched traces. Over-the-range units add vent and fan trouble, and Mid-South clay dust packs those filters tight. On a visit we open it up, discharge the high-voltage side safely, test the parts that matter, and tell you plainly what's worth fixing. We work on all major brands as an independent shop. Call us and describe what it's doing.

Microwave Repair — residential microwave being serviced

The microwave symptoms we hear most

  • "It runs but nothing gets hot" Magnetron, high-voltage diode, or capacitor failure
  • "Sparks and popping inside" Burned waveguide cover, arcing rack support, or food residue on the cavity walls
  • "Totally dead after the storm knocked power out" Blown line fuse, thermal fuse, or surge-damaged control board
  • "Buttons do nothing when I press them" Failed membrane touchpad or control board
  • "Loud grinding, and the plate won't spin" Turntable motor, stripped coupler, or worn roller ring

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Unplug the unit for a full minute, plug it back in, and see if the display resets.
  • 2Test the outlet with a lamp or phone charger, and check the breaker for that kitchen circuit.
  • 3Press the door firmly shut and listen for the latch to click, since a door that isn't seated stops the whole cycle.
  • 4Pull the glass tray and the plastic coupler, rinse off any spilled food, and set them back in place squarely.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form. Describe what you hear, smell, or see. Buzzing, leaking, no heat. Plain talk is fine. We ask a few questions and set a visit window.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

A technician arrives in the window, pulls the unit out, and tests it. No guessing games. We explain what failed and why, in words that make sense on your back porch.

  3. Step 3

    We fix it

Common parts ride with us, so many repairs finish the same visit. If a part must be ordered, we tell you plainly and schedule the return before we leave your driveway.

Microwave Repair — quick answers

Is a microwave that won't heat worth repairing?

Often yes, especially for over-the-range and built-in units that are pricey to swap and awkward to install. Countertop models are a judgment call. We test the heating circuit first, then tell you straight whether repair makes sense for your unit.

Why is my microwave sparking inside?

Usually the waveguide cover, a small panel on the interior wall. When grease soaks it, it chars and arcs. Metal touching the wall or a chipped rack support can also spark. Stop using the unit and call us before it damages the magnetron.

Can I replace the magnetron myself?

We don't recommend it. The high-voltage capacitor can hold a lethal charge even unplugged, and it must be discharged correctly first. That is the main reason microwave work belongs with someone who does it regularly.

Do you fix over-the-range and built-in microwaves?

We do. Those bring extra work, including mounting brackets, vent ducting, and trim kits on built-ins. Around here the exhaust filters load up with cooking grease and fine clay dust, which makes the fan struggle and the cabinet run hot.

What brands do you work on?

All the major residential brands. We're an independent repair company, not tied to any manufacturer, so we source parts by model number and serial. Have those handy when you call and we can check availability before we head out.

My microwave died right after a power flicker. What happened?

Storm surges commonly take out the line fuse or scorch the control board. Sometimes it's just the fuse, which is a straightforward fix. We check both, along with the door interlock switches, since a failed switch can blow that fuse too.

Why homeowners call us

  • Storm-season surge damageLightning and blinking power hurt control boards. An oven that lights up but won't heat, a washer that dies mid-cycle. We test boards and wiring before replacing anything, so you know what the surge actually took out.
  • Clay dust and lintRed clay dust and lint choke dryer vents and condenser coils. Long dry times, hot laundry rooms, fridges running nonstop. We check airflow every visit, because a clogged vent kills a good machine slowly.
  • Straight talk, no runaroundWe say what's wrong and what it takes to fix. If a machine is worn past sense, we say that too. You decide. No pressure, no jargon, no upsell dressed up as advice.
  • Independent and localWe're a Nashville crew, not a call center. We repair all major brands as an independent shop. You reach real people, and the person who answers knows the roads we drive.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more — as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so — often on the phone.
