Is a gas smell something I should wait on?
No. Turn off the gas at the shutoff behind or beside the range, open a window, skip the light switches, and step outside. If the smell is strong, call your gas utility first, then reach us for the repair.
Why does my oven take forever to preheat?
Usually a weak bake element on electric models, or a lazy oven igniter on gas. Both still heat. Just not enough. A tired temperature sensor can also make the control overshoot and stall, so we test the element draw and the sensor resistance to tell which one it is.
Can a cracked glass cooktop be fixed?
The glass gets replaced, not patched. Cracks let spills reach the elements and wiring underneath, so cooking on it invites bigger damage. We check whether the replacement top is still made for your model before you decide.
Do you work on both gas and electric ranges?

Often, yes. On many ranges the same control board runs the clock, the oven, and the timer, while the surface burners wire around it. A dead clock after a power blip usually points to board or fuse damage.
Should I run the self-clean cycle?
Use it sparingly. That extreme heat is hard on door latches, sensors, and boards, and a failure mid-cycle can leave the door locked. Wiping spills out by hand while the oven is barely warm saves parts over the long haul.
